This journal article reviews research conducted into Australian legislative responses to shared parenting time. Notably, the article examines the impact of the 2006 legislative reforms in this area which resulted in the Family Law (Shared Parental Responsibility) Act 2006 (Cth). The article elucidates the benefits and risks of legislating in favour of shared parenting arrangements. The authors conclude that whilst children benefit from continual and regular contact with both parents, there is no empirical evidence showing a relationship between the amount of parenting time, and better outcomes for children.en
