dc.description.notes | Focusing on the more positive aspects of women's and men's experiences of legal intervention into domestic violence, this article provides an overview of the development of legal responses to domestic violence and perpetrator programmes, before exploring specific aspects of legal intervention that can contribute to victim safety and offender rehabilitation and/or deterrence. The importance of ensuring continual support for victims involved with the court and criminal justice system is emphasised and it is suggested that, while valid criticisms might be directed at the legal system, legal interventions have a range of positive impacts. Data from a British study of 122 men in Scotland is quoted. | en |
