Notes: | This article presents the findings of a retrospective population-based cohort study which was undertaken in Western Australia using data from the Hospital Morbidity Data Collection and the Western Australian Midwives’ Notification System between 2002 and 2008. The study looked at the association between exposure to interpersonal violence (IPV) during pregnancy and adverse maternal and foetal outcomes. A total of 468 pregnant women were admitted to hospital following at least one incident of IPV and they were compared with a group of 3,744 pregnant women hospitalised for a pregnancy-related event who had not experienced an incident of IPV during pregnancy. |
