Notes:  This issues paper by the New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse outlines the major sources of data on family violence in N.Z., namely police and court data, social service agency data, hospital discharge data, NGO administrative data, population based surveys and research studies. International experiences relating to the development of data collection systems to measure family violence are discussed, with the conclusion that New Zealand can learn from international examples to ensure that good quality family violence data is collected at the population level.
