Notes:	Overview: This Australian paper reports on a number of performance indicators which could be used to measure the effectiveness of police in responding to and reducing family violence. This paper reports on the Australian Institute of Criminology’s review of the Australian Capital Territory Policing’s family violence data collection processes. Assessing the effectiveness of strategies of police, is critical as they are often the first point of contact in a family violence situation. In addition, a national strategy for policing to combat family violence has recently been released and there is a need to be able to identify changes in practice and outcomes over time. The authors conclude that these indicators are not exhaustive and need to be considered in conjunction with each other.
