Describes the Koori MEND (Men Exploring New Directions) Group operating in the Bundjalung Nation (Northern Rivers Area, NSW) since 1995. Participants either come voluntarily or are referred by Probation and Parole. Reflects the Aboriginal perspective that domestic violence is a community issue and that the focus should include men, women and children. Part of the healing process involves each man acknowledging his actions, and the effects they have within the family unit and the community. A new addition to the programme is a fitness programme to promote self esteem and redirect energy.en
