Reports on the UN Expert Group Meeting, which was convened in preparation for the forty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women to be held in 2004 in New York. Attended by 14 experts from a dozen countries including Australia, the meeting was held in Brazil from October 21-24, 2003 and produced a document which will be the foundation of the Secretary-General’s report to the Commission on the Status of Women. The paper endeavours to explain the roles that men can play to achieve gender equality and the benefits to be gained by their inclusion in the movement to stop violence against women.en
