| Notes: | Drawing upon research conducted in the UK with women who had experienced post-separation violence, this article attempts to define the nature and extent of post-separation violence and explore the unique dynamics of abusive relationships during the post-separation period. The various forms that post-separation violence can take, such as stalking and/or violation of protection orders, are discussed and women’s experiences in responding to domestic violence, both before and after separation, are examined. Issues of child contact are also addressed and it is suggested that the law is capable of providing greater protection and justice than is currently being delivered to victims and their families. |
