Notes:  Review of the American book, No more secrets: violence in lesbian relationships by Janice L. Ristock, which seeks to document the nature of such violence, as well as to argue for the development of a new framework to accommodate the lesbian experience of intimate partner violence. The book explores the occurrence and specificity of violence within lesbian relationships using interviews, surveys and focus groups with victims and perpetrators of lesbian violence, as well as with service providers. Ristock then examines the assumptions underlying our understanding of violence and highlights the inadequacy of current methods of approach of social service agencies in Australia, Canada and the United States. Final chapters emphasise the need for the development of new service models and present new strategies currently being tested.
