Presents the methodology and findings of a cross-sectional survey of US emergency department care providers and users’ perceptions of the relative benefits of resources for victims of intimate partner violence. The absence of research exploring health care providers’ and community members’ views about domestic violence victim assistance is highlighted and the potential for further research in this field to assist in the identification of victims is suggested. The results indicate police services are viewed favourably by both health care providers and community members but participant groups differed in their perceptions of the usefulness of other resources. Limitations of the study and directions for future research are identified.en
