Reports on research into the prevalence of domestic violence within marriages between Filipinas and Australian men. Around 390 Filipinas residing in Queensland provided quantitative and qualitative data for the study. Previous research has found both successful Filipina-Australian marriages and significant levels of domestic violence and murders committed by the Filipina’s (ex)partner. Under-reporting of physical and emotional violence because of fear, shame and discrimination was persistently revealed in this study. The reasons for marriage, power relationships within marriage, decisions to stay and government responses are also discussed.en
