dc.description.notes | This article reports the findings from a study that surveyed 1278 women in the US accessing family planning services about their experiences with physical and sexual partner violence and male partners’ attempts to control women’s reproductive choices. Reproductive control was defined as pregnancy coercion or contraception interference. The authors found that 53% of women reported physical or sexual partner violence, 19% reported pregnancy coercion, and 15% reported birth control sabotage. Pregnancy coercion and birth control sabotage were associated with unintended pregnancy. The author discusses implications and recommendations for health provider screening. | en |
