Outlines the background to, methodology and results of a U.S. study directed at assessing the impact of a multi-media tutorial prepared to assist dental students in recognising and responding to suspected cases of domestic violence in the practice setting. The evaluation reveals that a brief introductory seminar on domestic violence can significantly improve dental students’ knowledge of, attitudes towards and capacity to respond effectively to intimate partner violence. Implications of these findings for future training and practice are also discussed.en
