This article describes a cross-sectional study of 2945 women who presented to 12 orthopaedic fracture clinics in Canada, US, India, Denmark and the Netherlands where each completed two questionnaires: Women Abuse Screening Tool (WAST) and Partner Violence Screen (PVS). An analysis of their responses was performed to consider factors associated with intimate partner violence (IPV).<br/ ><br/ >Ultimately, the findings of the PRAISE investigators support the view that screening of female attendants of orthopaedic fracture clinics would be warranted as one in six women will have a history of domestic violence and one in fifty will present to the clinic with injuries resulting directly from IPV.en
