Notes:  Reports on four new developments in Queensland which are of interest to service providers. The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 1989 has been amended to extend protection to people in non-spousal relationships. The new act was proclaimed in March 2003 and the Department of Families has begun training service providers statewide. Two new statewide services have commenced: dvconnect and the Queensland Centre for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence (QCPDFV). The Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Accommodation and Related Support Service System Development Strategy, which will be implemented by December 2003, is summarised. A 12-month action research project, 'Sustainable service responses to family violence in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in North Queensland', is announced and the issues it will address are listed.
