dc.description.notesReports on the activities held during Queensland’s Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month which was officially proclaimed for May 2004. Events included the observance of Remembrance Day on May 5, honouring the lives of the women and children who became fatal victims of domestic violence, Picnic in the Park, during which women and children assembled boxes on street corners into a wall of messages calling for an end to violence and, also, the distribution of paper sandwich bags with a domestic violence message to tuck shops and cafes in Townsville and Mt Isa. The official launch on May 4, hosted by the Townsville Domestic Violence Service, is described as are the awareness-raising events held by the Rural and Remote worker of the North Queensland Domestic Violence Service.en
