Responding to Tod Augusta-Scott’s paper, ‘Dichotomies in the Power and Control Story’, this article explores some of the complexities of working with men on issues of violence, highlighting the central role issues of power and control play in working with men and the importance of engaging with men’s subjective experience of powerlessness. A series of key questions, focusing on ensuring accountability, responsibility and positive relationship change, is posed and it is argued that consultation with victims is crucial to the development of work with perpetrators.
