A New Zealand study investigated the relationship between the level of reporting of intimate partner violence (IPV) and the impact of using the restorative justice process. Despite the controversy surrounding the safety of restorative justice, the study identified that a significant proportion of participants from past research thought that increased accessibility to restorative justice would result in increased levels of reporting IPV. The author identifies a number of factors which impact on this relationship and concludes with the implications of using restorative justice in the context of IPV.en
