dc.description.notes"A full summary of Jane's seminar and her presentation slides can be found on the Centre's website at <a<br/ >href=http:/www.noviolence.com.au>http://www.noviolence.com.au</a>"<br/ >Article describes the visit to the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research of Associate Professor of Sociology Jane Ursel from Canada. Ursel, also the Director of the University of Manitoba’s Research and Education for Solutions to Violence and Abuse Centre (RESOLVE), presented two video-linked seminars from Central Queensland University. The first, aimed at academic staff and students, was an examination of Ursel’s research design, methodology and the value of research for policy development and evaluation of practice. The second seminar, Can Specialised Courts Meet Victim Needs for Justice?:, presented Ursel’s research findings from a thirteen-year study that looks at criminal justice responses in Winnipeg pre- and post-reform and also gave an overview of a new paradigm of criminal justice responses to domestic and family violence which, it is argued, better fits the complexity of domestic violence cases.en
