Recounts the address delivered by Detective Superintendent Chris Lines, coordinator of the ACT Crime Prevention Strategy, to the Women and Policing Globally Conference in 2002. The speech examined the evolution of criminal justice responses to family violence in the ACT and the success of the ACT’s Interagency Family Violence Intervention Program. Some of the hurdles encountered by the project in pushing pro-arrest policies to the forefront of practice were discussed, as were the achievements of the programme in reducing domestic violence incidents in the ACT.en
