dc.description.notes"June 2008"<br/ >General Overview: :The Judicial Oversight Demonstration (JOD) Initiative in the United States was one of the first attempts to develop an integrated response to domestic violence, through greater coordination between the judicial system, law enforcement and probation agencies, and community service organisations. In 1999, JOD was implemented at three separate sites in the United States: Dorchester, Massachusetts; Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; and Washtenaw County, Michigan. This independent, multisite evaluation discusses the key lessons learned from the implementation of JOD.<br/ ><br/ >Discussion: : The evaluation report is based on: site visits; the collection of quantitative data; participation of site staff and national partners in conference calls, meetings and technical assistance workshops; focus groups with offenders and victims at each site; and visits to comparison sites.<br/ ><br/ >According to the evaluation, despite significant obstacles to the implementation of JOD, the project successfully achieved lasting changes in the system response to domestic violence.en
