dc.description.notes | RESOLVE, formerly known as the Manitoba Research Centre on Family Violence and Violence Against Women, is a regional research network involving the three prairie provinces of Canada.<br/ >Reports on the 2001 collaboration between the City of Winnipeg Community Services and Police Services to introduce Family Violence Intervention Teams and provides a summary of their evaluation conducted by RESOLVE. Each Family Violence Intervention Team consists of a male police officer and a female social worker whose function is to contact families identified as being at “high risk” for escalation of violence and to help the family develop strategies specific to their needs to improve the situation. The summary of evaluation results includes the categories: clients contacted and served, client profile, client safety, increased knowledge of and access to resources and the team model. Recommendations by clients and agencies involved were that the Family Violence Intervention Team Project continue and expand to other areas of Winnipeg. | en |
