Notes:  This review paper seeks to estimate the global prevalence of intimate partner homicide by analysing studies worldwide which detailed the number or percentage of men or women who were killed by an intimate partner in a town, province or country. The authors systematically examined databases and also reviewed official sources within countries.

Ultimately, data was obtained from 66 countries and results showed that one third of homicides of women were perpetrated by an intimate partner, although this statistic is considered by the researchers to be conservative.

A brief discussion of preventive measures to reduce intimate partner homicide is included and there is a call for improvements in data collection and monitoring at the country level.
