In May 2014, the Australian National Organisation for Women's Safety (ANROWS) announced its Research Priorities.1 ANROWS identified that research is needed on how social and geographic isolation impacts on women seeking assistance and accessing services for domestic violence (DV). Of particular interest was the type of support, information and services that are most effective to assist women living in rural, regional and remote areas. The research needed to be inclusive of women and their communities and be conducted in collaboration with service providers located in isolated communities.en
