Describes the Wesley Uniting Mission experience in the participation of ‘Creating the Future’, a programme designed to assist children and families to talk about and understand family violence, identify responsibility and develop healthy relationships. During a seven-week period, primary school-aged children who experienced domestic violence attended the programme. Children were taught to break the silence, identify and release feelings and discard self-blame. In the two weeks following the group, each child was visited and completed a questionnaire. Family Services are working with all except one of the participating families and the University of South Australia is evaluating the research.en
