Notes:  This comment on Stockl et al.’s article, ‘The global prevalence of intimate partner homicide: a systematic review’ in this issue of The Lancet:makes the following points:
* apparent differences in homicide prevalence across regions must be treated circumspectly; religious, cultural and even financial issues may affect whether a death is categorised a homicide.
* Norman and Bradshaw endorse Stockl et al.’s call for improved data collection and calls for further research into homicide prevalence rates, prevention of intimate partner violence, an improved criminal justice response, and legislation to restrict firearm access.
