Article outlines the proposed project which is an initiative of the Australian Coalition of Women Against Violence and the National Council of Single Mothers and Their Children. Much work has been published to show that after separation from an abusive partner, women and their children are at risk of increased violence and that the consequences of post-separation abuse range from greater health risks and added stress and concern for children to increased time and financial demands required to undertake legal actions. Aims and anticipated project outcomes of the project include: Family Law system reforms to reduce women’s exposure to violence, a web-based resource to assist organisations and individuals supporting women to negotiate children’s matters after separation and the formalisation and expansion of the National Abuse Free Contact campaign.en
