It also considers the consequences of sexual abuse, the links between sexual violence and domestic violence and the barriers to disclosure. The government policy context is outlined. Chapter 5 identifies the organisations responsible for implementing the plan and Chapter 6 details the actions to be taken.<br/ ><br/ >Key actions for prevention are directed at the management and treatment of sex offenders, vetting those who work with children and working with schools on sexual and mental health promotion. Key actions for supporting victims include extra funding for non-government service providers, expansion of Sexual Assault Referral Centres and developing service guidelines for responding to victims’ and survivors’ needs. Key actions for improving criminal justice responses include training for police officers and prosecutors, a new performance management framework for criminal justice agencies and expanding measures for helping vulnerable witnesses to give evidence.
