Notes:	This resource booklet for GPs presents a general overview of domestic violence, including a broad definition, health indicators, case studies and guidelines for responding to domestic violence. The booklet emphasises the inappropriateness of couple counselling and provides examples of probing questions, which doctors can use to help raise issues of domestic violence with patients. The case studies provided are concise and deal with related issues of pregnancy, marital rape, children, NESB women and safety. Myths and tips about perpetrators are briefly discussed and a ‘services and resources’ section has been included.
