Developed primarily for use in one-day workplace training events, this manual contains a series of 'stand alone' modules, each one dealing with a specific aspect of domestic violence as a workplace issue. Module one introduces the concept of domestic violence, explains its many forms and highlights some of the key dynamics of abusive relationships. Risk factors and common indicators of someone possibly experiencing violence are also examined. Module 2 deals with recognising domestic violence specifically as a workplace issue. The "3 R's" of domestic violence management in the workplace – recognise, respond, refer – are examined in more detail and the major ways domestic violence can impact on the workplace, productivity and safety, are discussed. In Module 3, a model for responding to domestic violence in the workplace is suggested and specific ways in which management might approach victims and perpetrators are outlined. Module 4 deals with how best to manage and coordinate a workplace safety plan and Module 5 provides a range of suggestions for how to train staff and raise awareness about domestic violence in the workplace. Module 6 lists emergency, crisis, support and advocacy services for victims, children and perpetrators nationally, while the worksheets and other training materials to be used with the manual are contained in Module 7. The appendix also contains a model policy for dealing with domestic violence in the workplace and some guidelines for employers and employees. The manual comes with a CD-ROM and a workplace handbook.en
