Notes:  Overview: This action and activity kit compiled for use by Australian school students was released to coincide with the ‘White Ribbon Day’ of action against, and awareness of, family violence.

Schools-based intervention with children and young people has been shown to be strongly effective in combating violence. The kit contains an explanation of White Ribbon Day and an outline of the level and nature of domestic and family violence experienced in Australia. Suggestions for events or campaigns that can be organised within schools or by school students for the broader community are accompanied by information on organising and publicising events, and engaging expert support within the local community.

The kit also contains information for teachers and leaders about how to deal with disclosures of domestic and family violence and other sensitive issues, which may result from such activities, campaigns or workshops. A checklist of requirements for running events and a reference list of helpful websites and programs is provided. The kit also contains a participant feedback form and media release template.
