The children's book is in English, Vietnamese, Bosnian, Spanish and Tagalog, and work sheets are in English, French, Indonesian, Korean, Somali and Samoan.<br/ >Aimed at assisting refuge workers, allied professionals, non-abusive parents and caregivers to work with immigrant and refugee children who have been exposed to and/or are victims of domestic violence, this kit contains practical information, resources, multi-lingual books, activities and worksheets directed at helping children deal with and minimise the negative consequences of the effects of domestic violence. Part One outlines the rationale, key objectives, principles and policy framework for the resource manual. Part Two addresses some of the key issues which arise in the context of working with children who have experienced domestic violence and reviews some of the literature and research into children’s reactions to such trauma. Some common protective factors and coping mechanisms are also identified. Part Three discusses some theoretical and practical approaches to working with this client group in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner. Part Four outlines some individual, group and generic strategies which might be adopted in the process of assessing and assisting NESB children in domestic violence situations and suggests a range of therapeutic activities which might be helpful.en
