This paper aims to revisit the development of feminist theory in relation to male violence against women in the context of examining lesbian domestic violence. It refers to debate about whether feminist analysis can theoretically include the incidence of lesbian relationship violence and whether additional frameworks are needed to address abuse within lesbian relationships. It gives an overview of literature on these aspects, and suggests that the original potency of a feminist analysis has been diluted by renaming it as gender analysis. It advocates that feminist analysis and gender analysis should not be used interchangeably. It concludes that a feminist analysis of male violence against women can be expanded to demonstrate that as women and lesbians, experiences of oppression and internalisation of the ideology of oppression lead to replication of the dynamics of dominance and subordination in intimate relationships. It calls for appropriate services for lesbian victims of abuse and basis for violence prevention education and programmes.en
