Describes the work of BIG hART, a non-profit organisation which uses arts based projects to encourage disadvantaged young people to reconnect to their communities. The four-stage model developed by BIG hART and the roles of the key people, an arts mentor and an organiser/producer, are described. Two projects undertaken in the Illawarra region of New South Wales and Western Tasmania with a domestic and relationship violence theme are mentioned.
