This article outlines some of the key issues and outcomes of the Talking Health project, and presents the personal experiences of one of the participants. The Talking Health project was aimed to identify and address the health needs of newly arrived refugees. Culturally- and linguistically-appropriate health information modules were created and disseminated in the northern and western metropolitan regions of Melbourne. Audio-tapes, which were the main resource, were produced in the Bosnian, Somali, Arabic and Chaldean (Aramaic) languages. Although various health problems are discussed, the programme particularly concentrates on 'Depression in the Context of Resettlement'. Vesna Dinek, a Bosnian refugee, shares her experiences of fear, war and depression.en
