dc.description.notes | Presents a preliminary analysis of the findings of a National Audit of child prevention programmes. Describes the range and scope of prevention programmes, the types of groups or organisations involved in operating these programmes, identifies gaps and trends in service provision, and aims to generate discussion of future directions in child abuse prevention. Findings of the Audit were that there was a clear trend towards a more holistic violence prevention approach and service provision that is focused on client strength in combination with client problems, rather than problems alone. Family support programmes and community development continue to make up the bulk of programmes. Overall, the Audit highlighted the development of a strong, national base of child abuse prevention activity. | en |
