| dc.description.notes | Reports on the progress and context of the Family Violence Intervention and Research Project, an ongoing study aimed at the development of an integrated, effective and cost-efficient model of service delivery. Aspects of service delivery considered integral included support for both victims and witnesses of domestic violence, provision of assistance to perpetrators in recognising responsibility and to ensuring the safety of the family as a whole. Particular emphasis is placed on the need for professional development, case management, adequate time and tight screening and assessment procedures. The use of a variety of interventions is advocated and several of the programmes major concerns and policy considerations, including lack of reliable funding sources and poor service coordination, are noted. Continual evaluation of existing programmes is argued as key to future development. | en |
