dc.description.notes | Outlines the background to, principal aims and implementation of the ACT Inter-agency Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP), a programme based on the North American ‘Duluth Model’. The FVIP is aimed at providing a coordinated community and criminal justice response to violence within intimate and family relationships. In Phase 2 of the programme, the perpetrator education programme, a project within the broader strategy, was evaluated in order to ascertain its contribution to overall community safety. Its structure and processes, derived from the eight themes of the Duluth model, are described and specific strategies identified. Some of the major gains of the programme are highlighted and it is concluded that the perpetrator education programme has contributed to increasing offender accountability, victim safety and the overall goals of the FVIP. | en |
