dc.description.notes | Outlines some of the principles and conditions that enable the participation of men in domestic violence prevention issues. The phenomenon of globalisation and the strains of minority cultures and communities are explored to identify suitable criminal justice reform. Including men as part of the solution is gaining wider acceptance in industrialised countries, and fits with many minority and non-western cultures. To engage men as part of the process it is necessary to understand their particular socio-political context, and to develop community-based options. The author presents examples of transcultural practice issues and overcoming violence, which include African American men, working class white Australian men, South Asian men and Australian Aboriginal men. The aspects that hinder and facilitate engagement across cultures are also mentioned. | en |
