Notes:	Considerations of culture are central to understandings of violent behaviour. This paper discusses issues arising from the author’s involvement in the Strategy to Reduce Violence Against Women. It looks at prevention work in New South Wales which seeks to address conflicting goals of bridging cultural difference, celebrating cultural diversity and ensuring cultural sustainability. It considers the implications for women from diverse cultural groups, and concludes that an ethical approach in prevention practice is necessary to engage with issues of violence within different cultures.
