The paper examines core problems and challenges in limiting the extent of violence against women in the family and in intimate relationships by male partners.<br/ ><br/ >* lack of help for, and rights of, immigrant women<br/ >* lack of data, research and action programs.<br/ >* developing measures for implementing and monitoring standards, as well as further developing indicators, collection of data and statistics, and intensified research projects<br/ >Detailed standards for the operation of women’s refuges and support services, training and qualifications of professionals, prosecution of perpetrators, and ongoing assistance for women have been developed by WAVE in the manual, ‘Away From Violence’ (2004).
