Briefing paper stating seven priorities for governments to address which was developed by the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care and was presented to political parties and governments in the lead up to the 2002 Federal election. Paper reflects the findings and recommendations of the National Indigenous Child Welfare and Development Seminar Our Future Generations:, held in July 2003. Priorities identified include a national apology, healing and education for communities affected by family violence, a reduction in the removal of Indigenous children from their families and corresponding child protection reforms, improvement of early childhood programs, expansion of prevention and early intervention programmes and greater coordination and collaboration amongst government and community based services.en
