Provides a statistical overview of data pertaining to intentional injuries collected by the Queensland Injury Surveillance Unit in 1997, highlighting some of the key trends and patterns in relation to self-inflicted injuries, assaults and domestic violence. The findings are drawn from a sample of 1045 patients presenting at a hospital emergency department and are consistent with previous studies conducted in the United States revealing a significant percentage of injury-related emergency department visits are attributable to domestic or interpersonal violence.en
