| dc.description.notes | Introduces the (South Australian) Northern Domestic Violence Service's model of service delivery, which is a service centre located at a shopping complex that manages an emergency accommodation programme and outreach services. This model separates the service and administration centre from the shelter, rendering the services more visible and accessible, and the shelter clients more secure. Having a public presence in the community has further legitimated the service and its role. The 21 self-contained units of the accommodation programme facilitate privacy and provide an empowering environment. Nevertheless, this scheme also presents disadvantages: client isolation; slower client turnover; increased costs; and men hanging around the properties.
