dc.description.abstract | Dr. Molly Dragiewicz and Dr. Bridget Harris will present recommendations for future research, policy and practice on technology and domestic violence based on the first Australian study focused on survivors’ experiences of technology-facilitated coercive control. Digital technologies play an increasingly important role in everyday life. The ubiquity of these technologies, combined factors like with GPS tracking, cloud-based storage, and platform integration, present significant challenges to personal security and privacy, and particularly for domestic violence victims. This webinar presents findings from the Australian Communications Consumer Advocacy Network funded study "Domestic violence and communication technology: Victim experiences of intrusion, surveillance, and identity theft." Findings are based on interviews with twenty domestic violence survivors in New South Wales and Queensland and online focus groups with key stakeholders in rural, regional, and remote areas. Following the above presentation, Rachel Gibson, Senior Technology Specialist for the Safety Net Project at the National Network to End Domestic Violence will discuss resources for practice from NNEDV’s extensive tech safety work and the application of the work to the US | en |
