Abstract: | This Quick Guide supports readers to understand and communicate the findings for people born in countries where the main language is not English from the 2021 National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS). The NCAS is a periodic, representative survey of the Australian population that is conducted every 4 years. The NCAS measures the Australian community’s understanding and attitudes regarding violence against women, their attitudes towards gender inequality and their intentions to intervene when witnessing violence or disrespect against women. This Quick Guide supports the report titled Attitudes Matter: The 2021 National Community Attitudes towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS), Findings for People Born in Countries where the Main Language is Not English (“the N-MESC report”). The N-MESC report focuses on the understandings and attitudes of people born in non-main English-speaking countries (N-MESCs). The Quick Guide is useful for individuals and organisations who need to understand and communicate the findings of the N-MESC report. It includes a brief overview of the survey, key messages for prevention with supporting data, key findings and implications for prevention. The Quick Guide is one of a suite of ANROWS resources produced to communicate the findings for people born in countries where the main language is not English from the 2021 NCAS. Additional reports and resources can be found on the NCAS microsite. Thank you to Settlement Services Australia, inTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence and Immigrant Women’s SpeakOut Association for their valuable feedback on the Quick Guide. |
