dc.description.abstract | This mixed-method study investigates how health and social care staff in Sweden recognize elder abuse perpetrated by family members of persons with dementia. The study, conducted in 2021, included 39 staff working in dementia care. The research revealed inconsistencies in identifying abusive acts, with emotional/psychological abuse and neglect being the most commonly witnessed forms. The study highlights the need for consistent definitions of abuse and the development of interventions to support health and social care staff in detecting and addressing elder abuse. | en_US |
