Gambling & Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence : [13] Collection home page

The resources included examine how gambling can exacerbate existing patterns of violence, with financial abuse, economic stress, and coercive control being common themes. Women and their families often face increased risks of violence where gambling behaviors are involved, either as a result of their own gambling or that of their partners. The readings also address barriers to seeking help, such as social stigma, financial dependency, and isolation, which can perpetuate cycles of abuse. This list aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the social, psychological, and systemic factors that connect gambling with DFSV, while also offering insights into potential intervention and support strategies.
