This article presents the findings of a study of domestic violence service needs after a natural disaster in a New Zealand community using eight qualitative interviews with service providers. Agencies providing domestic violence services experienced a significant increase in caseloads, including women’s refuge, government agencies providing income benefits, police, and victim support services. The author also examines the context and cause of the increase in service needs. Policy gaps and recommendations are identified and discussed.
