This manual is aimed to assist in the implementation of the Safer Times project, which is a strategy to reduce violence against women in and around licensed premises and to raise community awareness. Participant hotels, clubs, discos and bars undergo a safety audit of the premises and an assessment of management attitudes to safety. Then, awards are conferred to the 'safest licensees'. The kit describes the eight steps to complete the project: set up a project team, let the community know about the project, invite venues to participate, organise the People's Choice Award and conduct the safety audit, analyse the results, organise the awards, provide feedback to participants and evaluate the project.
